How far is Nirvana Backpackers from Alipiri and Tirumala?
Alipiri, where the footpath and ghat road up to Tirumala begin, is about 7 km away (around 20 minutes). The Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala is about 25 km, roughly an hour by bus, cab or bike.
How do I reach the hostel from Tirupati railway station or the bus stand?
We are about 2.5 km from both Tirupati railway station and the central bus stand. An auto or app cab takes around 10 minutes; show the driver our address or Google Maps pin.
How do I get there from Tirupati Airport?
Take a pre-paid or app cab from Tirupati Airport at Renigunta straight to the hostel. Share our address or Google Maps pin with the driver, and message us on WhatsApp if you need help.
Is it safe for women travelling alone?
Yes. We have a female-only dorm, every bed has its own locker, dorms are for guests 18 and over, outside visitors aren't allowed in the dorms, and alcohol and drugs aren't allowed on the property.
Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Yes, luggage storage is free for guests before check-in and after check-out, so you can head to Tirumala without carrying your bags.
What are the check-in and check-out times? Is early check-in possible?
Check-in is from 11:00 AM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. Early check-in depends on availability and may cost a little extra; message us before you arrive.
Any tips for TTD darshan at Tirumala?
Book darshan slots on the official TTD website well ahead and follow the temple dress code. If you walk up the Srivari Mettu footpath you can get a free darshan token (numbers are limited), and at Alipiri TTD carries pilgrims' luggage up for free.
